A few months after visiting Craggy Bald I decided to do a painting of the white trunk tree in the meadow that had initially caught my attention. I love how the delicate branches and flowers of the tree form an intricate design against a clear blue sky and how the white bark of the tree stands out from the rhododendron bushes behind it. I think of this painting as a “preface painting”, an introduction to the coming Woven Existences series. Preface to Woven Existences. Oil on canvas, 36 x 36 inches.
